In Grove Island Leisure Centre, Corbally our classes are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5pm - 6pm.
In Shannon Taekwon-Do Centre all of our core classes take place on Monday and Wednesday evenings. We offer supplementary classes on Thursday evenings for our more progressed students. The strength and conditioning sessions are by request only.
Open gym sessions take place on a regular basis, as notified by key holders.

What to expect?
Through our 'FUNdamentals' programme for 6-8 year olds we will:
- Emphasize fun activity in a safe and non-threatening environment
- Develop dojang (training hall) rules and Taekwon-Do etiquette
- Ensure that Fundamental Movement Patterns gain quality, definition and refinement as the basis for building Taekwon-Do specific skills
- Use Fun activities and games to develop physical capacities (basic strength, postural control, core strength and flexibility) as well as agility, balance and coordination
- Take advantage of increased trainability to enhance speed/quickness of movements and develop flexibility
- Develop self-esteem through positive reinforcement and rewarding good behavior
- Introduce basic stances and techniques
- Encourage creative play that develops basic sparring stances, punches and kicks
- Use simple games to introduce basic concepts of self defence
- Facilitate cognitive development in areas such as: recall, memory, concentration and problem solving
- Nurture psycho/social development: desire to learn and be active, self confidence to try new things, self expression and group social skills, self comparison and task focus
- Emphasize safety, self control and respect
- Consolidate and refine foundation Taekwon-Do skills
- Encourage learning the game (Taekwon-Do competition)
- Develop practical tactical knowledge for sparring that builds basic strategies for attack and defence
- Introduce decision making during sparring situations
- Take advantage of increased trainability for the development of Taekwon-Do specific skills
- Develop motor skills (agility, balance, coordination, rhythm, time/space orientation, speed, dexterity “hand-eye coordination”, etc)
- Introduce conditioning using primarily own body weight exercises
- Introduce fundamental mental skills that emphasize concentration, emotional control and confidence
- Facilitate cognitive development in areas such as: recall, memory, concentration, problem solving, communication and decision making
- Nurture psycho/social development: desire to be active, develop confidence, dedication and commitment, communication and relational skills
